Telegram prices Stars in US dollars, not in TON. Fragment sells them at $0.015 each and converts the dollar price into GRAM at the live rate when you pay. On 7 October 2026, with GRAM at $1.43, that meant 1.05 GRAM for 100 Stars, 10.48 GRAM for 1,000 and 104.8 GRAM for 10,000. When GRAM rises you pay fewer coins for the same Stars; when it falls you pay more — the dollar price stays put. The live table above recalculates these at the current rate.

Keep a small buffer on top of the package price for the network fee — 0.1 GRAM is plenty. The most common failed payment is a wallet holding exactly the package amount and nothing for the fee.

Since November 2024 Fragment has required identity verification before you can buy Stars, Premium, usernames or anonymous numbers. The check is run by Sumsub, a verification provider many crypto exchanges also use: you confirm an email and a phone number, enter your name, upload a government ID and record a short face scan.

Most checks clear within minutes; some take hours or a few days. Verification belongs to your Fragment login, so it is a one-time step rather than a check on every purchase. Use the same Telegram account each time you buy.

Officially, no. Fragment is the only place Telegram sells Stars for TON, and it requires KYC. The official route without any ID check is the Telegram app itself (Settings → My Stars), which charges $19.99 per 1,000 Stars through Apple, Google or a card.

Unofficial sites and bots offer to buy Stars for TON on your behalf without the check — they place the order on Fragment through their own verified account and add a commission. They do work, but you are trusting a third party with the payment: start with a small amount, double-check the recipient username, and never connect a wallet that holds your savings.

After a community vote with about 81% in favour, Toncoin was renamed Gram on June 15, 2026, and the ticker changed from TON to GRAM. The network is still called The Open Network, which is why wallets and Fragment show 'GRAM · TON'.

Balances, addresses and wallets did not change and nothing needs to be migrated. Any site or message asking you to 'swap TON for GRAM' or 'migrate your tokens' is a scam. Some apps and exchanges still label the coin TON — it is the same asset.

Use TON if you buy Stars regularly, already hold GRAM, or top up Stars for a channel or bot: the saving is about $5 per 1,000 Stars and $50 per 10,000, every time. After the first purchase, a repeat order takes under a minute.

Skip it for a one-time 50–100 Stars purchase, if you need Stars in the next two minutes, or if you would rather not share an ID with Fragment. The app is simpler — you just pay about a third more.

Wallet won't connect: Fragment uses TON Connect. On a phone, open fragment.com in the browser and approve the request in Tonkeeper; on a computer, scan the QR code with Tonkeeper.

Payment failed: almost always not enough GRAM left for the network fee. Top up about 0.1 GRAM and try again.

Stars not showing: open 'View Transactions History' on Fragment and check the recipient username. Stars normally land within a minute; a wrong username is the usual cause.

Coins from an exchange never reached Tonkeeper: the withdrawal must use the TON network. A personal wallet needs no memo — memos are only for deposits into exchanges.
