Compare Crypto Exchanges: Fees, Reviews and Guides

Published · How we check

Of the five exchanges we track, the cheapest way to buy $1,000 of Bitcoin in the United States is Kraken Pro: 0.80% with a market order ($8) or 0.40% with a limit order ($4). One-tap app buttons cost more — the Kraken app charges 1% plus a spread — so the order-book screen is where the money is saved.

Spreads and withdrawal fees come on top; the fee calculator adds the withdrawal fees exchanges publish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which crypto exchange has the lowest fees?

Of the five we track, OKX (0.08% maker / 0.10% taker) and Bybit (0.10% / 0.10%) have the lowest entry-tier spot fees on their global platforms. EEA residents trade on regional platforms instead: Bybit EU at 0.25% and OKX EEA at 0.20% / 0.35% on a spot-only account. Kraken Pro charges 0.40% / 0.80% at the entry tier and is the cheapest of the five that serves US residents; Coinbase Advanced is about 0.60% / 1.20%. Every app's one-tap buy button costs more than the same exchange's order book.

Is Kraken or Bybit better?

Kraken suits US and European residents who want a long-running, regulated exchange with bank deposits and withdrawals, and new users get $10 in Bitcoin after a $100 bank or crypto deposit and $100 traded (cards don't count; not in the UK or Singapore). Bybit charges less on spot trades and has a large P2P market, but it does not serve the US and asks for ID verification before a deposit. Our two reviews compare fees, safety and countries in detail.

Why does buying in an exchange app cost more?

The one-tap buy button adds a fee and a spread on top of the market price — on Kraken the app charges 1% plus a spread, and Coinbase shows its fee and spread only at checkout. The order-book screen of the same account (Kraken Pro, Coinbase Advanced) charges only a maker or taker fee: 0.40% / 0.80% on Kraken Pro at the entry tier.

Where can I buy TON?

Kraken, Bybit and OKX all list Toncoin, renamed GRAM in June 2026 — Bybit shows the GRAM ticker, Kraken still uses TON. Our guides cover depositing TON on Kraken, buying it on Bybit and withdrawing it to Tonkeeper or Telegram Wallet; the fee calculator shows what each exchange charges for it.
