On June 15, 2026 Toncoin was officially renamed Gram after a community vote passed with 81% in favor. The ticker changed from TON to GRAM at a 1:1 rate — no token swap, no migration, wallets and balances untouched. The blockchain itself keeps its name: The Open Network (TON).
For Stars creators nothing changes mechanically: Fragment payouts arrive as the same coin under a new name. Exchanges are switching tickers at their own pace — Bybit has traded GRAM/USDT since June 22, while Kraken still lists the coin under TON — so seeing both names in 2026 is normal, and both refer to the same asset.

Is Telegram Stars (XTR) a cryptocurrency?
No. Stars are Telegram's in-app currency, priced in USD by Telegram itself; XTR is its currency code in the Bot API, not a token traded on exchanges. Crypto only enters the picture when creators cash out via Fragment and receive the payout in GRAM (formerly Toncoin).
Why is the Stars price fixed while GRAM floats?
Telegram sets Star prices in USD — about $0.02 in-app and $0.014 on Fragment. GRAM is a free-floating cryptocurrency. At withdrawal your Stars' USD value is converted into GRAM at the market rate, so the GRAM price decides how many coins you receive, not how many dollars.
